Amiel Kornel

Amiel is based out of San Francisco and Paris. During the nearly three decades since covering science and technology as a journalist in the 1980’s, he has had an accomplished career as operating executive, business advisor and investor with an emphasis on market expansion strategies and new venture creation.

He has advised Global 1000 companies in the U.S. and Europe across consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, publishing, automotive, e-commerce and communications sectors, among others – about market positioning, startup incubation and open innovation. He also serves on the Board of several early-stage startup ventures.

He has served as senior managing director at a private equity venture capital firm in the U.S. and senior advisor at a leading European M&A firm for small- to mid-cap clients. Previously, he led the New Venture Practice at a leading Silicon Valley based strategy consultancy.

He speaks fluent French, holds dual US/UK citizenship, and lived for 13 years in Paris. A former journalist, he has reported and edited articles on business, technology, and science for the International Herald TribuneThe EconomistComputerworld, and Le Monde Informatique, among other publications.

Amiel received a BA in Biological Sciences from the University of Chicago and an MBA from the M.I.T. Sloan School of Management, where he was Student Editor of The Sloan Management Review.
